On 3 February 2015 Emily Tozer had a heart operation for Tetralogy of Fallot. Tetralogy of Fallot is a name for a group of 4 heart defects that usually occur together.
- a ventricular septal defect, a hole between the two ventricles
- pulmonary stenosis, narrowing of the exit from the right ventricle
- right ventricular hypertrophy, enlargement of the right ventricle
- an overriding aorta, which allows blood from both ventricles to enter the aorta
This is what her mom wrote on 3 February 2016:
Today I am thinking of the family of the baby girl who was operated on after Emily, who passed away a few weeks later. I’m thinking of the parents waiting outside ICU to visit their children for a few minutes at a time. I’m thinking of all the other heart kids and their parents. And I’m thinking of the doctors and nurses working so hard to take care of our children.
