Lelethu Stemele ❤️

Mobirise

We met 25 year old Lelethu Stemele (Lady on the right) on our CHD Awareness Walk in East London on the 5th February of this year, and again at our parent support visit to Cecilia Makiwane Hospital on the 7th April.

It was on this visit that we learnt that, Lelethu and Unakho are two CHD patients who took it upon themselves to educate the younger patients and their parents on the importance of good oral hygiene. They started their own NPO, did their own fundraising in order to provide younger CHD patients with toothpaste and toothbrushes.

They made their appearance on a regular basis whenever their was a cardiology clinic at the public hospitals in East London. Awareness on the importance of good oral hygiene, preventative dentistry and medicinal decay and its systemic effect has been found to be very poor.

Quite often operations need to be postponed due to poor oral hygiene. These two young ladies took it upon themselves to do their bit for CHD.

Sadly Lelethu passed last Friday 17 June.

Lelethu you left us too soon. You did the CHD community proud❤️.
You will be remembered.
